Who We Are?

Our Story

C the Light Foundation was established to honor the life and legacy of Kyle Conrad, who passed away in September 2022 at the age of 39 after a long battle with esophageal cancer. Kyle expertly and lovingly fulfilled so many roles throughout his life: a beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend, teammate, coach, and a valued member of his church and the surrounding community. Kyle inspired others with his competitive yet kind nature, his humor and quick wit, his many talents including his athletic and singing abilities, and most of all his love of life and the people in it. He had the innate ability to form meaningful connections with anyone who crossed his path. Even during the most difficult phases of his cancer journey, he maintained a positive attitude, choosing to remain aligned to love and gratitude. He continued to show up for the people and communities that meant so much to him. Kyle was a true light in this world, and he committed to living life fully through the very end.

As Kyle chose to “C the Light” in his life despite its challenges, our organization helps today’s youth do the same. Throughout his adult life, Kyle was both a church youth group leader and a high school basketball coach. His own involvement in these activities as a teenager was so influential in Kyle’s life that he knew he needed to give back and pass down that same meaningful guidance to current teens. Though Kyle was adept at developing his players’ basketball skills, he valued their overall well being even more. He was determined to guide his players to become better humans – on the court, in school, and in their communities. To honor these important aspects of Kyle’s life, C the Light was formed on the overarching themes of COACHING, CONNECTIONS and COMMUNITY. We aim to provide:

  • COACHING – offering various forms of life coaching, wellness coaching, team building/bonding, motivational speakers, and more to help address the emotional, mental, and physical challenges many teens face today.
  • CONNECTIONS – funding free after school programming to create a sense of involvement, enjoyment, and connection for teens interested in broadening their extracurricular involvement.
  • COMMUNITY – providing teens with service opportunities to help them strengthen their community ties and experience the true value of getting involved and helping others for the betterment of all.

We believe that the teenage years can be a time of impactful connection and self-discovery. Kyle was fortunate to have many mentors and role models as a teenager, and it was important to him to fulfill that role in his community as an adult. Many of Kyle’s most meaningful and lasting relationships developed during his time at Governor Mifflin High School; as such, C the Light also works closely with Governor Mifflin administration to provide resources for projects that both fulfill the needs of the school and align with our philosophies.

In his honor, C the Light Foundation will continue Kyle’s work of inspiring, giving back, and making a positive impact in the world.
